Church Women United (CWU) is a national nonprofit organization, founded in 1941 with 1,250 local units in the United States.
Area churches are invited to participate and appoint a Key Woman. Member churches contribute financial support called "Shares of Responsibility" and share use of their facilities for meetings and celebrations.
Individual contributions are accepted at the celebrations to support local and world-wide projects.
The Goals of CWU are to:
- Grow in faith
- Deepen our understanding of what it means to be a Christian woman in today's world
- Make a difference, especially in the lives of women and children
- Work for global justice and peace
- Use responsibly and creatively the resources God has entrusted to us - our intelligence, our time, and our money!
Agreed to disagree, resolved to love and united to serve.
